Episode #16 “Going Solo to WDW”

This week I share my tips on how to do a solo trip to WDW.

I know for me it was a very empowering experience and I truly got to enjoy everything the parks had to offer.

IMG_8323

You might be able to splurge a bit and afford a deluxe hotel because you’re traveling alone!

IMG_8322

Don’t be afraid to go solo to a restaurant or a a bar and enjoy your special cocktail and food! You will make new friends, and you will never feel lonely!

This was actually my fortune cookie at the end of my meal at Yak&Yeti last year…couldn’t have been more appropriate 😉

I took this picture my last morning there, last year. I got up very early, right before dawn, grabbed some breakfast and then sat there on the beach of the Poly and watched the sun rise…it was pretty magical!

But we also want to hear from you…have you ever gone solo to the parks? Or is it something you would like to do?

This week we also want to take a quick moment to hold Orlando in our hearts, the week that just passed was probably one of the darkest one there and we do want to say that we stand strong with Orlando and with everyone involved in all the terrible tragedies that took place there just few days apart.

We also started a brand new segment called “Disney Movie Night“.

You all know how much I love movie, Disney movies and food…and so I thought about putting together some fun recipes inspired by a Disney Movie, that you can do with your family while enjoy your Disney Movie Night.

For our very first segment, I asked Andrea to join me because I know that every May 4th (be with you) she does a lovely night with her lovely family and so we picked Star Wars for our very first film!

It’s all about making the night extra special for your family, friends and loved ones!

Here are a few pics from Andrea’s Star Wars Movie Night

Here’s Andrea’s recipes:

Death Star Crispies

4 tbsp butter

1 – 10 oz bag of marshmallows

1 tsp vanilla extract

6 cups Cocoa crispies cereal OR 3 cups rice crispies and 3 cups cocoa crispies

Heat butter and marshmallows in saucepan on the stove until melted. Add vanilla extract. Mix well. Add crispies cereal. Use plastic baggies on your hands to shape a handful of the crispy mixture into a ball. Let cool on waxed paper.

Wookie cookies

Refrigerated pre-made cookie dough Chocolate icing Black gel icing Red sprinkles OR red gel icing Bake your cookies per packaging directions. Let cool. Use a decorating tip #233 with chocolate icing to make Wookie “fur” on each cookie. Use black icing for eyes. Use red sprinkles or red icing for mouth.

This is my idea of an healthier snack, just form your light sabers using all fresh fruits! I bet your kids won’t mind eating those 😉

Another healthy option I suggest, is to make a big pasta salad (you can make it ahead and keep it in the fridge and it’s perfect for summer in a galaxy far far away

Bow-Ba Fett Pasta Salad

Cook your bow pasta according to the package (always add salt in the water when it starts to boil, right before you drop the pasta in).

Slice up:

Organic carrots and zucchini (I would use a mandoline for these so they come out nice and thin), the zucchini you can also then cut in half or quarters, whatever you prefer ( I like quarters so they are nice and small)

Cut in halt some organic cherry tomatoes

Add half of the veggies to a big bowl.

Drain your pasta, run it under cold water. Add the pasta to the bowl and top it off with the other half of the veggies.

Drizzle some oil of olive, season with some Himalayan Pink Salt and pepper and mix it all together.

If you’re not eating it right away put it in the fridge and whenever you’re ready to dive in you can cut up a couple of avocados to add (you want to wait till the last minute for those), when you add them then add a bit of lemon juice to the pasta and may the fork be with you!

Now we hope you enjoy our new segment and that will inspire you to have your own Star Wars Disney Movie Night, and we want to see your pictures! Be sure to come share them on our FB page!
